RETAIL EYE - TRENDS IN RETAIL AND POS

Every month we capture what is happening in retail – understanding key themes and trends for POS.  This snapshot guide helps to bring the high street to your desk monthly.

FOOTFALL

Footfall across UK retail destinations rose by 6.7 w/c 24th May vs. the week before, boosted by sunny weather over the bank holiday weekend. Thursday and Friday saw an average increase of 20.6 percent, whilst Saturday saw a modest 4.4 percent increase. On bank holiday Sunday footfall increased by 25 percent - and by 47.4 percent in UK high streets. Despite the uplift, footfall remained 26.8 percent lower than 2019’s pre-Covid levels*

SUMMER

Bright colours brought vibrancy to the high street, providing a summery, celebratory feel to continue to welcome shoppers back. Outdoor entertainment continued to be highlighted with tempting offers for picnics, BBQs and sharing foods.

CSR

We spotted a number of brands focusing on different causes; demonstrating to shoppers that they care about the issues facing society. The environment also continues to be a focus, with improvements and initiatives being shared with shoppers.
