RETAIL EYE - TRENDS IN RETAIL AND POS

Every month we capture what is happening in retail – understanding key themes and trends for POS.  This snapshot guide helps to bring the high street to your desk monthly.

FOOTFALL

Whist it is too early in the month for overall footfall data, retailers are battling economic uncertainty and the effects of rail strikes and cold winter weather. UK retail destinations saw footfall decline by 8.6% from Monday 12 to Wednesday 14 compared to the same days the prior week. The decline was particularly noticeable in high streets, where footfall dropped 15.1%.* Overall footfall for the start of this week, was 27% lower than the same period in 2019, before the impact of the pandemic.*

CHRISTMAS

For our second edition of Retail Eye this month we have included a round-up of some of the flagship store retail schemes. This is the first Christmas to be uninterrupted by COVID since 2019. With a difficult economic forecast, retailers and brands are looking to inspire shoppers and encourage them to the hit the high street for their Christmas shopping.
