RETAIL EYE - TRENDS IN RETAIL AND POS

Every month we capture what is happening in retail – understanding key themes and trends for POS.  This snapshot guide helps to bring the high street to your desk monthly.

FOOTFALL

During the week 18 – 24 June footfall across all UK retail destinations declined by 2.3% compared to the week before.* That was in complete contrast with 11 – 17 June when footfall rose by an average of 2.9%. Despite the drop in footfall over the week, the annual uplift from 2022 remained at 4.9%.* The gap from the 2019 footfall level nearly doubled to -11.3% from -6.8% in the week 11 – 17 June.*

EVENTS
June saw retailers celebrating Father’s Day and Pride. Inspiration for Father’s Day gifts should be well received with a Father’s Day Buyer Survey finding that almost 80% of UK consumers struggle to come up with gift ideas for their dads and father figures.**

SUMMER
Summer campaigns were once more dominant across retail. This was timed well as the country enjoyed a spell of improved weather.
