FOOTFALL

Footfall rose 8.2% week on week for the seven days from 23 October. Footfall grew 10.7% in shopping centres, 8.7% in high streets and 4.2% in retail parks during the period.* Whilst half-term offered some relief to UK retail, the week was still down 13.2% compared to 2019's pre-pandemic figures.* The year-on-year increase in footfall was 3.2% last week, down from 4.8% in the week before.*

HALLOWEEN

The season is now the UK’s third biggest retail event according to data from ebay. Overall Halloween spending in the UK is estimated to total £687 million this year, and sales for Halloween have increased year on year for over a decade.** Figures from RAJA UK indicate that the average family of three spends over £120 pounds on costumes with 37.1% of these bought from supermarkets.
